Self-care is so important, and especially with our busy day-to-day lives, we all need to take some time out for ourselves sometimes.
Unfortunately, spas are expensive! But the good news is you can recreate your own spa in the comfort of your own home.
It can be difficult to figure out the right things to buy for your first DIY spa night, but we’re here to help! A relaxing pamper evening doesn’t have to be a full spa experience with expensive oils creams and moisturisers.
Here are our top tips for creating your own low-cost spa at home to rejuvenate your skin:
1. Stay hydrated
We all know one of the best things you can do for your skin is to drink plenty of fluids, so before you start your relaxing pamper evening, the first thing you should do is pour yourself a glass of something hydrating! Maybe a fruit smoothie, or a glass of cucumber water.
Cucumber water is a great choice as cucumbers have a number of benefits for your skin! They are rich in potassium, vitamin B, magnesium, antioxidants, and electrolytes, which are all hydrating and soothing for your skin.
For the ultimate refreshing drink, slice cucumber, put it into a glass of water and refrigerate overnight so it’s beautifully chilled for your at-home spa experience.
2. Use a dry-brush
Dry brushing is a body massage with a stiff-bristled brush. Dry brushing regularly has many benefits for your skin. It increases blood flow and stimulates collagen production, which will help to strengthen your skin.
It also dramatically increases elasticity, and decreases cellulite so it's great for lifting and toning! Dry-brushing also improves circulation, so it’s not only great for your skin, but your overall health too.
3. Run a bath and use a scented bath bomb
Bath bombs are probably the most fun product you can include in your spa experience! They’re also easy to use; fill up your bath, drop the bath bomb into the water, and let the bath bomb do its job! Bath bombs are often filled with moisturizing ingredients that will leave your skin feeling soft and rejuvenated. They also smell amazing!
You can shop bath bombs, available in over 20 scents.
4. Use essential oils
With their anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and soothing properties, essential oils are used for a variety of skin care concerns. With it’s relaxing properties, lavender essential oil is an ideal choice for a relaxing bath and to benefit your skin.
Lavender is an anti-inflammatory that can reduce redness and is a natural hydrator that can repair dry skin. It also helps with different skin irritations, cuts, scrapes, burns, and can also calm down stressed skin. It also smells beautiful and provides the same relaxing environment as a real spa!

6. Use a face mask
The mask traps the moisture or ingredient in the skin and creates film that helps to either hydrate, moisturize, dry or exfoliate the skin depending on the ingredients used and its purpose. Therefore, face masks allow ingredients to penetrate better into your skin in a short amount of time.
7. Use retinol on your face to reduce the signs of ageing
What is retinol, I hear you ask? Retinol is an over-the-counter formulation of vitamin A that is applied topically to the skin to reduce the effects of aging and acne.
Retinol increases collagen production and decreases collagen breakdown. The result is reduced fine lines, wrinkles, scars and an overall smoother complexion!
