How to make your wax melts stronger

Scent is very subjective, and whilst some people prefer delicate, subtle scents, others prefer very strong wax melt scents that you can smell all around your home.

There are various factors that affect the strength of a scent. Some scents are naturally stronger than others, but there are some things you can do to adjust your wax melts strength to suit your preference:

1. Which wax burner to use

The first thing to consider is the wax burner you are using. Tealight burners tend to get hotter than electric wax burners, so if you prefer your wax melts to pack a punch we recommend using a tealight wax burner, whereas if you prefer a more subtle, long lasting scent, an electric wax burner may be more suitable for you.

2. How soon to change your wax melts

 Village wax melts are designed to be strong & long-lasting, but how strong you enjoy your wax melts may impact how quickly you replace the wax melt in your burner.

Our wax melts (per half a heart) typically last 2-3 burns, however if you enjoy a subtle scent you may be able to get much longer out of them. If you prefer a strong scent you may find that you would prefer to replace the wax melt after 1 or 2 tealights.

3. How much wax to use

Our unique heart shaped wax melts weigh approximately 14g each. They snap easily down the middle so you may decide to use half a heart in your burner instead of a full heart. 

By using half a heart, the wax pool will reach a higher temperature so the fragrance will be stronger. If you prefer a more subtle, long-lasting scent we recommend using a full heart in your burner instead.
