For non-electric wax melt burners, all you need to do to start smelling good is put a tea candlelight inside the warmer, take off the lid, and put the melt on top.

Yes, when used properly, wax melt warmers are safe. Make sure your wax melt burner is on a solid, level foundation and flames are kept clear of loose, combustible materials like cloth or plants.

Using too little will have the same effect; your warmer won't be able to adequately heat the wax, and as a result, there won't be any scent. One entire wax melt, cube, or tart is the recommended quantity to use.
